Preview, form, team news and live broadcast details for Saturday’s duel at the Santiago Bernabéu

This Saturday’s early LaLiga fixture sees Real Madrid host Levante at the Santiago Bernabéu as part of Matchday 20. The game kicks off what promises to be a pivotal weekend in the Spanish top flight, with Real Madrid looking to return to winning ways after a surprise Copa del Rey exit and Levante hoping to upset the odds on the road.

Real Madrid currently sit second in the table, while Levante are battling to climb out of the relegation zone. The clash between these clubs has historically favoured the hosts, but every LaLiga fixture carries its own narrative, and Levante will be aiming to spring a surprise.

How the teams go into the game: form

Real Madrid go into Saturday’s clash following two straight 3-2 losses. Los Blancos were defeated by Barcelona in the Supercopa de España final on Sunday, before getting eliminated at the hands of Albacete in the domestic cup.

Yet, they have managed to win their last three games in the league, currently sitting four points behind leaders Barcelona in the table.

The Supercopa de España loss led to Xabi Alonso’s dismissal, with former Real Madrid Castilla boss Álvaro Arbeloa making his dugout debut against Albacete.

As for Levante, the newly-promoted side remain unbeaten in their last three league games thanks to 1-1 home draws against Real Sociedad and Espanyol, as well as a 3-0 win away at Sevilla.

Sitting second-bottom in the LaLiga table, Levante are looking to climb up the standings in their bid to avoid relegation.

Real Madrid vs Levante: Head-to-head

Los Blancos cruised past Levante with a 4-1 win away from home back in September. The previous time the two sides met was in May 2022, with Real Madrid thrashing Levante 6-0 on home soil.

However, Levante has managed to pull some upsets away at the LaLiga powerhouse. In fact, the Granotes have won two of their last four league games at the Bernabéu. It remains to be seen if Levante could stun a struggling Real Madrid on Saturday.

Real Madrid vs Levante: Team news

Real Madrid will continue to manage a number of injury and availability issues ahead of Saturday’s fixture, with several first-team players still sidelined.

Trent Alexander-Arnold remains unavailable due to a thigh problem, while Éder Militão and Ferland Mendy are both recovering from hamstring injuries.

Brahim Díaz is also ruled out as he continues his involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations. There is some uncertainty surrounding Antonio Rüdiger, who is nursing a knee issue and will face a late fitness test before a final decision is taken on his involvement.

Jude Bellingham, Thibaut Courtois, Álvaro Carreras, Rodrygo Goes and Aurélien Tchouaméni are expected to return to action after being left out of the starting line-up against Albacete, but Kylian Mbappé will miss out through injury.

Levante arrive in the Spanish capital with a shorter injury list. Roger Brugué and Unai Elgezabal are both sidelined with knee problems, while Víctor García is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury.
