Jamaica international Rico Henry faces extended period on sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury as contract expiration looms with current deal ending in the summer
Brentford’s defensive options have been dealt a significant blow following confirmation that Rico Henry has suffered a significant hamstring injury.
Head coach Keith Andrews disclosed the setback, noting that the long-serving left-back is prepared for a lengthy recovery process away from the first-team squad.
The Bees’ boss emphasised that the recovery timeline will prioritize the player’s long-term health over a rushed return to the pitch. Andrews noted that the defender will be unavailable for an extended period due to what he described as a “decent hamstring injury.”
“He will be out for numerous weeks, for sure,” Andrews said.
“It’s a decent hamstring injury, so we just have to make sure we get that right for him, more so than us. We want him to get back to a good place.
“He epitomises the way I like the game to be played: aggressive and front-footed. And he’s been a big, big part of what has been the best chapter in this club’s history; he’s been on the journey.”
Beyond the defensive concerns, there was a more optimistic update regarding the availability of Reiss Nelson. The former Arsenal winger is expected to rejoin the training group immediately, with a final decision on his inclusion for upcoming fixtures to be made following a late assessment of his progress throughout the week.
