Preview, form, head-to-head, team news and broadcast details for Barcelona vs Villarreal clash at Camp Nou, as the league leaders look to extend their advantage at the summit

Barcelona return to Camp Nou on Saturday with the chance to stretch their LaLiga lead to four points. Currently one point clear of Real Madrid, who do not play until Monday, Hansi Flick’s side know victory would apply pressure at the top before a demanding run of fixtures across multiple competitions.

Sitting third and 10 points off the summit, the Yellow Submarine are chasing Champions League security and carry a recent history of success in Catalonia that will embolden them.

How the teams go into the game: form

A 4–0 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final was followed by a 2-1 league loss to Girona. However, Flick’s side responded with authority, dispatching Levante 3-0 to steady the campaign. Across the league season, Barcelona have won 20 of their 25 matches and scored 67 goals.

Villarreal’s form has quietly strengthened. Marcelino’s team are unbeaten in three of their last four league games and come into the match off a 2-1 victory over Valencia. Their LaLiga record stands at 16 wins from 25 games, leaving them three points clear of fourth-placed Atlético.

Barcelona vs Villarreal head-to-head

Barcelona have won 35 of their 57 competitive meetings with Villarreal and claimed a 2–0 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Yet recent trips to Camp Nou have favoured the visitors.

Villarreal have won three of their last three away league matches against Barcelona, including a remarkable 3-5 triumph in January 2024.
