Tottenham captain Cristian Romero labelled the club’s lack of transfer activity ‘unbelievable’ and ‘disgraceful’ despite their recent injury crisis
Despite their recent struggles in the Premier League table, Tottenham managed to claim a point against Manchester City on Sunday, drawing 2-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – a result that seemed very unlikely at half-time.
Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo had given the visitors a 0-2 lead away from home going in at the break, with their team controlling 64.5% of possession.
Romero was forced off at half-time and replaced by midfielder Pape Matar Sarr who would have felt as though a daunting 45 minutes of football awaited him.
In what turned out to be a game of two halves, Thomas Frank’s side managed to pull back a goal through Dominic Solanke, who swept the ball in from close range, before going on to equalise with a scorpion kick to claim his first and second league goals of the season.
Solanke himself was one of many Spurs players on their injury list until he returned to action just last month.
But it was Cristian Romero’s Instagram post that caught the headlines late on Monday evening, which seemingly criticised the medical club’s medical team.
“Great effort from all my teammates yesterday, they were incredible,” he began.
“I wanted to be available to help them even though I wasn’t feeling well, especially since we only had 11 players available – unbelievable but true and disgraceful.
“We’ll keep showing up and taking responsibility to turn this around, working hard and staying together.
“All that’s left is to thank all of you for being there and for always supporting us, the fans, @spursofficial.”
Thomas Frank spoke of the importance of Dominic Solanke to Tottenham.

How many Tottenham players are currently injured?
Spurs’ season so far has been hampered with injury worries and it can be seen reflected in their league form.
Dominic Solanke had been out since August due to surgery on his ankle before his return just last month. He himself, was forced off late after he rolled his ankle but he is expected to be involved in the next fixture.
The likes of Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Mohammed Kudus aren’t expected back until at least March, while James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Ben Davies will miss the majority of the remainder of the season.
Dejan Kulusevski Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero arę all expected to return early to mid February while news is still waiting to be heard on Kevin Danso’s toe injury.
