Auston Trusty made the most of the opportunity to feature in USMNT’s international friendly against Portugal by impressing with his display for the American national team.
Currently anchoring the backline for Scottish giants Celtic, the Pennsylvania native has utilised his move to Glasgow to prove he can handle the pressure of elite European competition.
Following his latest outing, Trusty is increasingly viewed as a primary contender to partner with club teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers or Chris Richards at the heart of the American defence.
Who is Auston Trusty?
Auston Trusty was born in Media, Pennsylvania, and developed through the Philadelphia Union’s youth academy. His professional journey began in Major League Soccer with the Union and later the Colorado Rapids, where his standout performances caught the attention of Arsenal.
In January 2022, he completed a move to the Premier League side before being sent on a highly successful loan to Birmingham City, where he was named the club’s Player of the Season.
Following a stint with Sheffield United, Trusty made the move north of the border to Celtic in August 2024 for a fee reported to be around £6 million.

The 2025/26 campaign has been a breakout year for the 27-year-old defender in Scotland. Trusty has been a mainstay in the Celtic lineup, recording over 1,500 minutes in the Scottish Premiership and maintaining a high average performance rating.
