Andoni Iraola delivers a fresh Bournemouth injury update with Tyler Adams edging closer to a return and Marcus Tavernier still sidelined

Bournemouth head to Merseyside to face Everton on Tuesday with optimism quietly building around their injury situation, as Andoni Iraola offered a largely positive update on his squad.

The Cherries have been navigating a demanding run of fixtures, and while results have remained competitive, player availability has been a recurring theme throughout the winter months.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference on Monday, Iraola suggested the focus was less on new setbacks and more on how his players recovered from Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Aston Villa.

“My worry is more about the players that finished the other day [against Aston Villa],” Iraola said. “Let’s see if we can train with everyone today and everyone ready to go again.”

The Bournemouth boss confirmed there were no fresh injuries, although he acknowledged the physical toll of recent matches.

“We don’t have any injury concerns, but it’s true that a lot of players finish with cramps, finish with some small things that I hope they are small and they are ready again to go tomorrow.”

For USMNT supporters, the most encouraging update concerned Tyler Adams. The American midfielder has been sidelined since December after suffering a knee problem early in the win over Manchester United, but his return is now firmly on the horizon.

“And Tyler… let’s see, he will train today. Maybe it’s early for tomorrow, but I think he’s getting closer,” Iraola revealed.

Adams had been a central figure in Bournemouth’s midfield before his injury, and his gradual reintegration will be monitored closely in the coming days.

Fellow midfielder Marcus Tavernier, however, remains behind Adams in his recovery timeline.

“Tav is still not there,” he said. “Tav has been still training by his own and is the next one after Tyler, let’s say,” Iraola explained.
“But I think it’s going to be then for the next one against West Ham, maybe too early. But he’s there.”

There was also an update on Ben Gannon-Doak, who has not featured since November after sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Scotland.

“He is a little bit later on, especially more than Tyler [Adams] and Tav [Marcus Tavernier],” Iraola said. “He is starting this week to run on his own.

“March at the moment is when we can start thinking about him.”

While the midweek fixture may arrive too soon for both Adams and Tavernier, Bournemouth’s treatment room is finally beginning to clear – a timely boost as the season enters a decisive phase.
