Liam Rosenior gives Chelsea injury update on Estêvão Willian, Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James before Chelsea face Manchester City

Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in a crucial Premier League clash. While City are still chasing down Arsenal in the title race, Chelsea are battling to remain in the European places after a dip in form in recent weeks.

The Blues have lost three of their last five league matches, leaving them vulnerable in a tightly contested race for the Champions League places, which is now the top five of the Premier League.

Injury concerns continue for Chelsea

Despite the importance of the fixture, Liam Rosenior will be without a number of key players once again as he prepares to face Pep Guardiola‘s side.

“There are no new updates, but the positive is Estêvão having 90 against Port Vale,” Rosenior said at his pre-match press conference.

The Chelsea boss confirmed that several first-team players are progressing in their recoveries, but none are expected to feature against Manchester City.

“Otherwise it’s the same really. Trevoh [Chalobah] is working really hard and is back on the pitch. Levi [Colwill] is training but still has some hurdles to overcome first, and Reece [James] has been running today. None of them will be ready for Man City but they are working well.

“We have a good squad and they look really, really good. I know it was a game we were expected to win, but the way we went about things against Port Vale was very good and hopefully that springboards the rest of our run-in.”

Alongside Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James, Chelsea are also dealing with absences across the squad, including suspensions and injuries that have disrupted their rhythm.

Estêvão boost amid long absentee list

One bright spot for Rosenior is the return to full match fitness of Estêvão Willian, who completed 90 minutes in the recent win over Port Vale.

While he may not yet be a guaranteed starter, his availability provides a timely boost in attacking areas where Chelsea have been stretched.

With several players still working their way back to full fitness, Chelsea will need to rely on squad depth and resilience as they attempt to get their season back on track against one of the league’s strongest sides.
