West Ham United will be without Crysencio Summerville due to injury when they host Manchester City on Saturday in what is shaping up to be a crucial Premier League clash at the London Stadium.
The Hammers are battling to avoid relegation as the season approaches its final weeks, currently sitting 18th in the table.
They are level on points with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest and just one point behind Tottenham in 16th, meaning every result could prove decisive in the fight for survival.
Their task does not get any easier against Manchester City, who remain firmly in the title race and trail league leaders Arsenal by seven points.
However, West Ham will have to face Pep Guardiola’s side without one of their key attacking players. Head coach Nuno Espírito Santo confirmed that Summerville’s injury makes him unavailable for the match as he continues to recover from the problem picked up against Fulham.
“We have Summerville out… we will assess him day by day and see how he goes, but he’s not going to be available for the game. We’re going to miss him,” Nuno said, as quoted by injury expert Ben Dinnery.
The absence is a significant setback given the winger’s recent form. Summerville has emerged as one of the Hammers’ standout performers in the second half of the season after initially struggling to make an impact in front of goal.
After failing to score in his first 21 Premier League appearances of the campaign, the Dutch winger found his rhythm with a four-match scoring streak. He also netted the decisive goal in West Ham’s 0-1 victory away at Fulham in their most recent outing.
Crysencio Summerville stats this season
Across all competitions, Summerville has made 27 appearances for West Ham this season, registering seven goals and four assists.

Crysencio Summerville return date
Reports suggest the winger could be sidelined for a short period, with his return expected after the March international break.
According to Hammers.News, Summerville is likely to miss upcoming fixtures against both Manchester City and Aston Villa. West Ham are hopeful he will be fit again in around two to three weeks.
The club is reportedly targeting a potential return for the FA Cup quarter-final at the start of April, where Summerville could face his former side Leeds United.
