Everton host Manchester United on Monday Night Football and both managers have provided injury updates ahead of the clash

On Monday, February 23, David Moyes welcomes his old club Manchester United to face his Everton side at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Ahead of the game, both he and counterpart Michael Carrick have issued injury updates.

There is some good news for both teams, but perhaps especially so for the home side who have only one key absentee due to injury to bemoan. While Moyes has no fresh injury concerns, Jake O’Brien will miss the game with a suspension.

“Look, we have got everybody fit bar Jack Grealish, so we are probably in as a good a position,” said Moyes at his pre-match press conference.

Moyes calls for patience with Dibling

The Everton manager was also asked about Tyler Dibling, who has played just 519 minutes across all competitions this season. Some fans have been eager to see the youngster back on the pitch, but Moyes has urged patience with his development.

“I think he’s one who we think we’ve got a really good, talented player on our hands. We need him to develop and get used to us a little bit,” said Moyes.

“He’ll probably need a little bit of time. Even me looking towards the start of next season, I’m saying pre-season friendlies etcetera, all those things will help get him more established than when we got him in.

“Look, he’s beginning to learn a lot more about us. He’ll get game time I’m sure between now and the end of the season, so it’s good.”

Mount and De Ligt still out for Man Utd

The main injury doubts for Carrick’s team were Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt, both of whom were considered doubtful, but can now be ruled out of contention for Monday’s clash.

“Yeah, Mason’s getting closer, I think we’re really, we’re going to be patient as well and we have, well, sorry, we have been patient with him so we don’t want to, we don’t want to push anything;” Carrick said.

“He’s an important part of the group, Mason, and we want him we want him back and fit and he’ll have a big impact for us. So he’s getting closer, which is good for us.

“Matt a little bit working towards it, but as I said last week, he’s a little bit behind Mason really. So we’re just trying to work with him to progress him, to get him a bit closer really.”

It seems United fans will have to wait a little longer to see Mount and De Ligt back in action, while Patrick Dorgu is still slated for a return in April. Other than that, there are no new concerns for the Red Devils boss.
