Oliver Glasner discusses Adam Wharton, Nathaniel Clyne and other injury concerns ahead of Crystal Palace’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday
Oliver Glasner has offered an update on Adam Wharton’s availability for Crystal Palace this weekend, as the Eagles look to record a remarkable fourth victory over Liverpool in a single season.
The South London side travel to Anfield on Saturday amidst a period of encouraging consistency and European distraction.
While the collective gaze of the supporters may already be drifting toward next Thursday’s Conference League semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk in Poland, Glasner has prioritised a competitive showing against the Premier League reigning champions.
The Palace coach has revealed that Wharton will be available for the trip to Anfield after being forced to miss the clash with West Ham due to an injury he picked up during the high-intensity quarter-final second leg against Fiorentina.
However, Glasner provided a reassuring update during his pre-match briefing on Friday, noting that the England international has successfully completed a full session with the senior group.
“Adam is good,” Glasner said. “He is fit and trained yesterday without any issues, so he’ll be available for Liverpool.”

The midfielder’s return is seen as a major positive for a side that has already proven to be a thorn in the side of Arne Slot’s team on three previous occasions this term.
Clyne a late doubt for landmark Anfield return
The only significant concern for Palace involves veteran defender Nathaniel Clyne, whose participation against his former club is currently uncertain.
The experienced full-back, who is one appearance away from reaching the milestone of 250 club games, has been struggling with illness. Glasner noted that while Clyne’s condition improved late on Thursday, a definitive decision will not be made until a final assessment on the morning of the match.
“He was ill yesterday, but then was better in the evening,” Glasner explained. “He’s being assessed at the moment. But hopefully he is available.”
The Eagles remain without the services of Eddie Nketiah and Evann Guessand, both of whom have been ruled out of the trip to Merseyside. Despite these absences, Glasner expressed his satisfaction that no fresh injury concerns have emerged from the physical encounter with West Ham.
As Liverpool aim to strengthen their hold on a Champions League berth, the pressure remains on Slot’s side to overcome a Palace team that has frequently disrupted their rhythm over the last 12 months.
For Glasner, the objective at Anfield is to maintain the squad’s momentum without compromising the physical integrity of his key players before the journey to Poland.
