Impressed by his impact, Barça are weighing up the permanent purchase of the on-loan Manchester United forward this summer
FC Barcelona have already reached a clear internal position on one of their most important summer decisions, with Marcus Rashford now firmly seen as a player worth keeping beyond his loan spell.
While the January window has only just closed, the club’s sporting leadership is already planning ahead, and Rashford’s rapid impact has pushed his future high up the agenda.
The English forward arrived from Manchester United as a temporary solution, but his performances have quickly shifted the conversation.
Rashford has brought consistency, directness and efficiency to Barcelona’s front line, contributing 10 goals and 13 assists across 33 appearances in all competitions.
Those numbers have not only strengthened the team on the pitch, but have also convinced decision makers that he offers genuine value in the longer term.
According to Sport, Barcelona are now preparing to activate the purchase option included in the loan agreement, set at 30 million euros.
Within the club, that figure is viewed as reasonable given the current transfer market and Rashford’s proven ability to deliver at elite level. The belief is that players with his profile, experience and output rarely become available at that price.

Rashford keen to stay
According to the aforementioned report, from Rashford’s side, there is little hesitation. The forward is understood to be keen to leave his Manchester United chapter behind and commit fully to life in Catalonia.
He is prepared to sign a three-year contract and has accepted that this will involve earning less than he was scheduled to receive in England, where his contract runs until 2028.
That willingness to adjust his salary has been a decisive factor in making the deal workable for Barcelona.
“Of course what I want is to stay at Barça,” he told Sport.
“It’s an end goal, but it’s not the reason why I’m training hard and giving it my best. The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles. I can’t be in a place where important objectives are not demanded of you;
“For me it is more difficult to be motivated and give my best at a club where the demand is not maximum. I’m in the perfect place and environment to continue my journey as a football player, so I just try to do my best every day and help the team win. We’ll see what happens next summer.”
Provided there are no unexpected fitness issues during the final months of the LaLiga season, the club intends to complete the signing in June.
The plan is to move quickly once the campaign ends, allowing Rashford to begin pre-season fully integrated as a permanent member of the squad rather than a loanee.
Head coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco share the view that replacing Rashford’s output and versatility at a similar cost would be extremely difficult.
