Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler provides fitness update on Yasin Ayari, James Milner and Solly March ahead of Nottingham Forest test

Brighton head into Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest boosted by positive injury news, as Fabian Hürzeler confirmed a key midfielder is closing in on a return.

Speaking to the press on Thursday ahead of the clash at the Amex Stadium, Hürzeler provided updates on Yasin Ayari, James Milner and Solly March.

The most encouraging development concerns Ayari, who has been sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained earlier this month. The midfielder suffered a dislocation that initially looked concerning, but his recovery has progressed faster than expected.

“Starting with Yasin Ayari, he is finally rejoining us,” Hürzeler explained. “He suffered a shoulder dislocation – it was a painful injury, but thankfully nothing overly serious. Yasin is a quick healer.”

Ayari has already been participating in non-contact sessions and is now stepping up his workload.

“He has been doing non-contact work, but today he gets back into full-contact training with his teammates. If he handles the physical challenges well he will absolutely be an option for the weekend.”

That update gives Brighton a timely midfield boost as they look to build momentum in the closing weeks of the campaign.

There was also reassurance regarding veteran midfielder James Milner. The experienced campaigner was withdrawn late on during the recent draw at Brentford, prompting some concern, but Hürzeler suggested there is no lasting issue.

“Beyond Yasin, we have a clean bill of health regarding injuries. James Milner came off near the end at Brentford but he has looked incredibly sharp over the last two days on the training pitch.”

Attention also turned to Solly March, whose long-awaited return has been closely monitored by supporters. Hürzeler stressed that while progress is being made, caution remains essential.

“I know there has been anticipation regarding Solly March’s return, and with Solly the key word is patience. We cannot force his reintegration. He needs game time to rediscover his highest level, but the timing of his game time is important.”

With Ayari nearing full availability and no fresh setbacks reported, Brighton appear well positioned ahead of Forest’s visit to the south coast.
