Roberto De Zerbi saw his striker pick up injury during Tottenham’s 0-1 victory away at the Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday

Tottenham Hotspur’s fight for Premier League survival has suffered a devastating setback following reports that leading striker Dominic Solanke could miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring tear.

The North London club currently sits in 18th place, facing an atmosphere of significant intensity with only four games remaining to preserve their top-flight status.

While the squad secured an encouraging victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, the cost of those three points could prove to be catastrophic for Roberto De Zerbi’s selection options.

It has now been reported by The Telegraph that Solanke sustained a grade two hamstring injury during the encounter, a mechanical necessity for his second-half withdrawal.

With a recovery timeline estimated between three and eight weeks, the England international is a major worry for the board as they navigate a daunting run-in without their primary attacking focal point.

“Solanke [has] a muscular injury,” De Zerbi confirmed after the game against Wolves. “I don’t know how many games we lose him.”

If the recovery leans toward the more severe eight-week estimate, Solanke would not only miss the club’s survival bid but would also see his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup in serious jeopardy.

De Zerbi left with depleted squad for final four matches

The update on Solanke follows the confirmed loss of Xavi Simons to an ACL rupture, leaving the Tottenham hierarchy to manage what can only be described as a full-scale injury crisis.

The medical room at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is currently operating at capacity, with vice-captain Cristian Romero also ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

These latest setbacks add to a long-term absentee list that already includes Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, and Ben Davies, forcing De Zerbi to rely on a threadbare senior group for the upcoming trip to Villa Park on Sunday.

The responsibility for providing the goals to keep Spurs in the division will now fall heavily on Richarlison, who produced a positive cameo after replacing Solanke at Molineux.

However, the lack of depth in the squad is a primary worry for the hierarchy, as the team currently sit two points adrift of 17th-placed West Ham United.
