UEFA’s revamped format has pushed Champions League revenues to record levels, with the winners – PSG or Arsenal – set for a massive financial windfall

The UEFA Champions League remains the richest competition in club football, and the 2025/26 edition has once again pushed the financial rewards to unprecedented levels.

Following UEFA’s introduction of the new 36 team league phase format, the tournament now features more matches, larger broadcasting deals and significantly higher commercial revenues.

The result is a record prize structure that allows Europe’s biggest clubs to generate enormous earnings through participation fees, performance bonuses and knockout progression.

For finalists Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, the competition has already delivered massive financial returns before the final has even been played.

Total prize pool

UEFA confirmed that €2.467 billion (£2.09 billion) has been allocated to the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup for the 2025/26 season.

The distribution model is divided into several categories, including equal participation fees, performance related bonuses and UEFA’s “value pillar”, which combines club coefficient rankings with television market value.

Every club qualifying for the league phase receives a guaranteed participation payment of €18.62 million (£15.8 million) before a match is played.

How much each round is worth

UEFA’s prize structure heavily rewards success on the pitch, with clubs earning additional payments at every stage of the tournament.

Each league phase victory is worth €2.1 million (£1.78 million), while a draw earns €700,000 (£593,000).

Teams that finish inside the top 8 of the league phase receive an additional €2 million (£1.69 million) and qualify directly for the round of 16. Clubs placed between 9th and 16th receive €1 million (£847,000) before entering the knockout phase play offs.

Once the knockout rounds begin, the prize money rises sharply:

  • Round of 16 qualification: €11 million (£9.3 million)
  • Quarter final qualification: €12.5 million (£10.6 million)
  • Semi final qualification: €15 million (£12.7 million)
  • Finalists: €18.5 million (£15.7 million)
  • Winners bonus: €25 million (£21.2 million)

These figures do not include additional earnings from UEFA’s value pillar distributions, ticket sales, sponsorship bonuses or commercial revenue generated during a deep European run.

How much PSG and Arsenal have made so far

Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal have already earned huge sums through their progression to the latter stages of the competition.

Arsenal’s strong league phase campaign helped maximise their earnings through victory bonuses and final table placement rewards. Combined with knockout qualification payments and value pillar distributions, the Premier League side are expected to have generated €142 million (£122.6 million) in UEFA related income before the final.

PSG, meanwhile, remain among Europe’s highest earning clubs because of their strong UEFA coefficient ranking and global commercial profile. Alongside their performance bonuses, the French champions are expected to receive around €140 million (£122 million).

How much the winner will receive

The eventual Champions League winners are expected to receive one of the biggest financial rewards in football history.

Once participation fees, league phase bonuses, knockout rewards and value pillar payments are combined, the champions could earn more than €150 million (£127 million) in total UEFA related revenue.
