Arne Slot provides Liverpool injury update on Curtis Jones and Alisson Becker before Liverpool face Paris Saint-Germain

Liverpool head into Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain with work to do after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg.

Arne Slot’s side will need a strong response at Anfield if they are to keep their European hopes alive, but preparations have been slightly disrupted by fresh injury concerns.

The Reds did pick up momentum domestically with a 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, but that result came at a cost.

Curtis Jones and Alisson concerns ahead of PSG clash

Midfielder Curtis Jones was forced off during the win over Fulham, raising immediate doubts over his availability for the PSG clash.

“He felt a little bit his groin. It wasn’t the moment – he felt it already for a few minutes,” Slot told Sky Sports.

“So, let’s hope for the best but I would be surprised if a player who comes off that he’s available for Tuesday.”

That leaves Liverpool short in midfield options at a crucial stage of the season, with little time for recovery before the decisive second leg.

There is also a confirmed absence between the posts, with Alisson Becker still not ready to return.

“Tuesday I don’t expect him. He’s not training with the team yet,” said Slot.

“But he’s working very hard on his recovery, so we hope to have him back in the near future. But he doesn’t train with the team yet, so he will not be performing Tuesday.”

Mamardashvili set to deputise in goal

With Alisson unavailable, Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to continue in goal for Liverpool.

The Georgian goalkeeper will once again be tasked with stepping up on the European stage as the Reds attempt to overturn their deficit.

Liverpool’s task was already a difficult one against a strong PSG side, and with key players doubtful or missing, Slot will need a big performance from his squad to keep their Champions League campaign alive.
