Forest are likely to see Anderson depart this summer amid growing transfer speculation, but a potential replacement is already being lined up

Nottingham Forest are preparing for growing interest in Elliot Anderson this summer, but the club may already have identified a possible replacement should the midfielder eventually leave the City Ground.

Anderson has developed into one of Forest’s standout performers since arriving from Newcastle United in the summer of 2024, and his rapid rise has inevitably attracted attention from across Europe. The likes of Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs keeping close tags on the England international.

Speculation surrounding Anderson’s valuation has escalated dramatically over recent months with reports earlier this year suggesting Forest would demand around £75 million for the midfielder, while more recent whispers in the national media indicate the asking price could now rise as high as £120 million.

With Anderson expected to start for England at the World Cup this summer, even greater interest could be generated in the former Newcastle man.

Forest remain keen to build around Anderson rather than sell him, but the club is also preparing for multiple scenarios ahead of what could become a hectic transfer window. One player who has once again emerged on Forest’s radar is Inter midfielder Frattesi.

Forest revisit long-standing interest in Davide Frattesi

Forest first showed interest in Frattesi more than a year ago before making a serious push in their pursuit during the January transfer window.

Inter at the time were reluctant to sanction a sale without first securing a replacement, despite concrete interest reported from both Forest and Lazio. Reports in Italy confirmed that Forest even tested Inter’s resolve with a €35 million offer in January, although no deal ultimately materialised.

The situation now appears to have changed significantly. Frattesi has struggled for both form and consistent playing time during what Italian media have described as a disappointing season at San Siro. As a result, his market valuation is believed to have dropped ahead of the summer window.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that the 26-year-old is now expected to leave Inter at the end of the campaign, and Forest remain among the clubs closely monitoring his situation.

The report claims Forest’s “antennas remain alert” regarding Frattesi’s availability and, although they face competition from several Serie A clubs including Roma, Napoli and Juventus, the financial muscle of the Premier League club is likely to put them in a strong position, as well as the fact that Inter would prefer to not sell to a league rival.

Unlike during the winter transfer window, Inter may now be willing to accept a significantly reduced fee for the midfielder, with Evangelos Marinakis on alert.
